Thandile Country Lodge is an owner-managed hideaway set in the heart of the Waterberg region, just outside Bela-Bela. The original farmhouse, built in 1852, has been lovingly restored to its former charm, offering seven Colonial-style rooms that open onto a wide wrap-around veranda overlooking the bush and surrounding game farm.
Here, time slows down. You’ll wake up to the sound of birds, watch the horses roam freely across the veld, and end your day with a golden African sunset.
Guests can also choose our Timbaktu River Cottages, a peaceful self-catering option ideal for those who prefer a more private, glamping-style stay with their own kitchen facilities.

At the main lodge, we have 24/7 wifi and full solar. There are 2 shared lounges, beautiful gardens with game and horses roaming freely on the front lawns, together with 2 all-year round swimming pools. We have a large terrace in our restaurant overlooking 2 beautiful dams where catch-& release fishing is offered as well as a large fire pit with braai facilities. Our restaurant offers excellent buffet/English breakfasts and typical South African home cooked dinners. Guided horse trails are our speciality for game viewing and it is offered to day visitors as well.

We had an unforgettable experience at Thandile Country Lodge. Best place for the whole family to experience farm life, interact with horses, pigs. Relax with nature and animals surrounding you. The giraffes Kerneels and Matilda are a sight to see. The River "kothuis" is beautiful decorated and private. We swam in the "plaasdam".The horse ride was amazing, relaxing totally unforgettable, our highlight of the weekend. We will be back.... Read this review

Baie dankie vir die baie rustige oorslaap. Die perde (en kameelperde) wat op die werf rondloop was vir ons verskriklik mooi en het 'n baie lekker rustige atmosfeer geskep. Had a brilliant time at Thandile Country Lodge riding out on in the bush on a well trained and experienced trail horse and escorted by my host whose knowledge of horses and the bush is unsurpassed.
